Programs & Activities

Four core initiatives connecting agricultural education, community food security and ecological research.

All programmes are delivered on a non-commercial basis and are open to students, rural youth, farming families and community organisations in Zulia and neighbouring states.

Programme 01

Practical Experimental Agriculture & Crop Innovation

Providing hands-on education in organic farming, crop rotation, seed preservation, and bio-fertilizer production.

Students and participating farmers work directly on the foundation's experimental plots, where each growing cycle is treated as a teaching laboratory. Sessions cover soil preparation without synthetic inputs, composting and bio-fertilizer production from local organic residues, planting calendars adapted to the Zulia climate, and the design of rotation schemes that restore nitrogen and interrupt pest cycles.

A dedicated seed preservation component trains participants to select, clean, dry and store native and locally adapted seed varieties, protecting genetic diversity and reducing dependence on external inputs. Comparative trial beds allow participants to record yield, plant health and input cost side by side, so recommendations are grounded in measured results rather than theory.

Programme 02

Rural Youth Leadership & Technical Skills Training

Empowering young students through technical workshops in agribusiness management, sustainable farming, and environmental science.

This programme prepares rural young people to lead agricultural and environmental initiatives in their own communities. Workshop modules combine field practice with classroom instruction in agribusiness fundamentals: costing a production cycle, record keeping, cooperative organisation, quality standards and responsible commercialisation of surplus produce.

Environmental science modules give participants the vocabulary and measurement skills needed to assess soil, water and biodiversity conditions on their own land. Leadership sessions develop facilitation, project planning and public communication, so graduates can organise community work groups and represent local interests before institutions and partner organisations.

Programme 03

Community Food Security & Local Assistance

Partnering with local communities to establish sustainable household gardens, soil restoration projects, and nutritional support systems.

Working household by household, our field team helps families establish productive kitchen gardens sized to their space, water availability and dietary needs. Support includes site assessment, bed construction, starter seed and seedling provision, irrigation guidance and follow-up visits through the first full production cycle.

Where soils have been degraded by erosion, over-cultivation or chemical dependence, restoration projects introduce cover cropping, organic matter incorporation and contour management. Nutritional support activities connect what is grown to what is eaten, with practical guidance on crop diversity, food preservation and balanced household consumption planning.

Programme 04

Ecological Research & Soil Conservation Program

Conducting field research on climate-resilient crops, water conservation techniques, and natural pest control methods.

Our research programme evaluates crop varieties and cultivation methods for resilience against heat stress, irregular rainfall and salinity. Trials are documented across seasons and the findings are translated into plain-language field guidance that farmers can apply without specialised equipment.

Water conservation work covers rainwater capture, mulching, drip and low-pressure irrigation, and the protection of watercourses bordering agricultural land. Natural pest control research develops biological and botanical alternatives to synthetic pesticides, monitoring beneficial insect populations and the long-term health of the surrounding ecosystem.
